Suru Valley, Ladakh: A Guide

Suru Valley is a picturesque region located in the southwestern part of Ladakh, India. Nestled amidst the western Himalayas, this valley is known for its lush greenery, flowing rivers, and the majestic peaks of the Nun-Kun range. As a less-explored region of Ladakh, Suru Valley offers a unique blend of vibrant culture, serene landscapes, and stunning vistas, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Geography and Tourism

Suru Valley stretches along the Suru River, a tributary of the Indus, starting from Kargil and extending to the upper reaches of Pensi La, which connects the valley to Zanskar. The valley is flanked by the imposing Nun (7,135 m) and Kun (7,077 m) peaks, which dominate the landscape and provide a breathtaking backdrop. The lower parts of the valley are characterized by fertile farmland, dotted with apricot and apple orchards, while the upper areas lead to high-altitude pastures and glaciers.
