Sri Vijaya Puram — In a remarkable initiative to elevate ecotourism and create job opportunities for locals, Baratang has unveiled its second limestone cave, Limestone Cave-II, inaugurated on September 21 by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS. The ceremony drew the attention of senior officials from the Baratang Forest Division.
Nestled just 550 meters from its predecessor, Limestone Cave-I, this new addition is poised to further captivate visitors and position Baratang Island as a top-tier tourist destination in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The caves, shaped by millennia of natural processes, are adorned with stunning calcium carbonate formations, attracting eco-conscious travelers eager to experience nature’s artistry.
The journey to the caves adds to the allure, with visitors embarking on a picturesque boat ride through serene, mangrove-lined creeks, immersing themselves in the island’s untouched beauty. With the launch of Limestone Cave-II, there’s even more incentive for adventurers to explore this tranquil, ecologically rich paradise.
This expansion not only enhances the island’s natural attractions but also aligns with its commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental preservation, promising to solidify Baratang’s status as a must-visit spot for both domestic and international travelers.
