3 Days Dzongu Itinerary Ex Gangtok
Day 1: Gangtok to Dzongu
Depart from Gangtok early in the morning and drive to Dzongu (approx. 70 km, 4-5 hours). Enjoy scenic views of the Teesta River and surrounding landscapes en route. Arrive at Dzongu and check into your homestay or guesthouse.
After lunch, visit the Sanklang Check Post to register and obtain the necessary permits. Explore the nearby Namprikdang village, located at the confluence of the Teesta and Rongyoung rivers. Walk through the lush forests and enjoy the serene surroundings.
In the late afternoon, transfer to Lingthem Village from Namprikdang. Lingthem is famous for its stunning kaleidoscopic view of Mount Kanchenjunga. Visit the Lingthem Monastery to experience local religious practices and enjoy the scenic views. Enjoy a short hike around the village.
In the evening, check into your accommodation in Lingthem Village. Enjoy a traditional Lepcha dinner and interact with the local community. Overnight stay at Lingthem.
Day 2: Lingthem to Tingvong, Kusong, and Lingzya
Explore Lingthem Village in the morning and enjoy the local sights. Visit nearby attractions and take in the scenic beauty of the area.
Mid-morning, transfer to Tingvong Village via Mantam. Tingvong is known for its forests, lush landscapes, and farming. Check out of your accommodation and proceed to Tingvong. The drive will offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes.
Upon arrival at Tingvong, visit the Tingvong Monastery to learn about local Buddhist practices. Enjoy a local lunch and start a 2-hour hike to Kusong Village, an uphill walk offering stunning views and an immersive experience of local life. Kusong is also known for its forests, lush landscapes, and farming. Explore Kusong Village and interact with the local community.
Return to Tingvong in the late afternoon and then transfer to Lingzya Village. Enjoy the scenic drive and the serene environment of Lingzya.
In the evening, check into your accommodation in Lingzya. Visit the Lingzya Waterfall, a beautiful natural attraction in the village. Enjoy a traditional Lepcha dinner and relax in the peaceful surroundings. Overnight stay at Lingzya.
Day 3: Dzongu to Gangtok
Explore Lingzya Village in the morning, known for its scenic beauty and serene environment. Cross the river to reach Sakyong Village and then head uphill to Pentong Village. Both villages are notable for their proximity to the Core Zone of Khangchendzonga National Park. Continue to Bay Village, the last motorable point, and enjoy the panoramic views. Bay Village is the starting point of the famous trek to Tholung Monastery, which is situated inside the KNP.
Return to your accommodation for lunch in the afternoon. Pack your belongings and prepare for the return journey to Gangtok.
Drive back to Gangtok in the evening, enjoying the picturesque landscape along the way. Arrive in Gangtok by late evening and drop off at your hotel or preferred location in Gangtok.
