Entry Formalities and Guidelines for Foreigners Visiting Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Permit Requirements for Foreign Nationals

• Indian Nationals: No permit is required for Indian nationals to visit the Andamans.
• Foreigners: Certain islands do not require a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) for foreign visitors. These islands include East Island, North Andaman, Smith Island, Curfew Island, Stewart Island, and others (as mentioned).
• Exceptions: Citizens of Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan, or those with origins in these countries, need a RAP to visit the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs is necessary. Violations may lead to penal action under the Foreigners Act, of 1946.

• Myanmarese Nationals: Permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs is required for visits to Mayabunder and Diglipur.
• Tribal Areas: Visits to tribal areas necessitate a Tribal Pass issued by Deputy Commissioners of specific regions.
