Itinerary

Day 1: Guwahati – Shillong (100 km / 3 hours)

Enroute Sightseeing:

  • Umiam Lake (Barapani): A large man-made lake ideal for photography and quick refreshments.

  • Viewpoints: Stop at viewpoints along NH6 to enjoy the lush Khasi Hills.

Evening:

  • Police Bazar, Shillong: Explore the bustling central market area, ideal for shopping local handicrafts, trying street food, and getting a feel of urban Shillong.


Day 2: Shillong – Cherrapunjee (60 km / 2 hours)

Enroute:

  • Elephant Falls

  • Shillong Peak (if permitted)

Cherrapunjee Sightseeing:

  • Nohkalikai Falls: Tallest plunge waterfall in India.

  • Seven Sisters Falls

  • Mawsmai Cave: Limestone cave system, lit and accessible.

  • Arwah Cave: Larger and more natural cave system.

  • Eco Park & Dainthlen Falls


Day 3: Cherrapunjee Local Sightseeing / Adventure Day

Options depending on interests:

  • Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek (Nongriat): A challenging but rewarding trek (~3000 steps one way).

  • Wah Kaba Falls

  • Wei Sawdong Falls

  • Garden of Caves

Tip: If doing the Nongriat trek, start early and dedicate the full day.


Day 4: Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong – Dawki – Krangshuri/Phe Phe – Jowai (200+ km, full day)

  • Mawlynnong: Asia’s Cleanest Village, Balancing Rock, Sky View Tower.

  • Dawki: Boat ride on the crystal-clear Umngot River.

  • Byrnihat Suspension Bridge (Optional short detour).

  • Krangshuri Falls: Mesmerizing blue-hued waterfall with swimming options.

    • Alternative: Phe Phe Falls – more offbeat and less crowded.

Overnight at Jowai or return to Shillong depending on travel pace.


Day 5: Shillong – Lad Rymbai – Moopun Falls – Rynji Falls – Umberylein Falls – Shillong

Explore East Jaintia Hills hidden gems:

  • Moopun Falls: Set in a serene forest near Cham Cham village.

  • Rynji Falls: Just 3 km from Moopun, known for natural stepping ponds.

  • Umberylein Falls: Remote and lesser-known, ideal for short treks and solitude.

  • Scenic drive through Lad Rymbai and surrounding areas.

Return to Shillong by evening.


Day 6: Morning Shillong Sightseeing & Departure

Options:

  • Ward’s Lake: Morning walk and paddle boating.

  • Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures

  • Lady Hydari Park or Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians

  • Shopping for souvenirs

Departure: Head to Guwahati Airport/Railway Station (~3 hours drive).
