How to Reach Long Island

From Port Blair

By Ferry:

Regular ferries operate from Port Blair to Long Island via Havelock and Neil Island. Ferries typically depart early morning (6:00 AM). On specific days, such as Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays, an additional ferry departs from Port Blair at early morning (7 AM).

The return boat leaves Long Island on the same day at 1:00 PM, reaching Havelock at 3:00 PM and Port Blair by 5:30 PM.

Ferry tickets can be booked online through the official DSS portal: dss.andaman.gov.in.

Port Blair to Long Island Ferry Ticket Price (Non-Islander Rates):
  • Chair: ₹1140
  • Seat: ₹865

By Road:

To travel from Port Blair to Rangat by road, you will drive along the Andaman Trunk Road, covering a distance of approximately 150 kilometers. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours, passing through picturesque landscapes of tropical forests and coastal views. After reaching Rangat, you will board a ferry from the Rangat Jetty to continue your journey to nearby islands like Long Island or others in the area. The ferry ride usually takes about 1 to 2 hours, depending on the destination.

From Rangat:

Travelers can reach Long Island via Rangat Jetty & Yeratta Jetty, which are well-connected to Port Blair by road and boat. From Rangat:

By Ferry:

From Rangat, there are two types of ferry services available for traveling to nearby islands:

  1. Harbour Service from Yeratta Jetty:
    • Duration: 1.5 hours
    • Cost: ₹27
    • Operating Days: Daily, from 9 AM to 3 PM with multiple trips throughout the day.
  2. High-Speed Foreshore Service from Rangat Jetty:
    • Duration: 1 hour
    • Cost: ₹345
    • Operating Days: Thursdays and Sundays at 7 AM, and daily at 12 PM.

By Road and Ferry Combination:

  • Travel by road from Port Blair to Baratang Island (approximately 3-4 hours by vehicle).
  • Take a ferry from Baratang to Rangat, followed by another ferry to Long Island.

By Private Chartered Boats:

Private operators also arrange boats to Long Island. However, these services are subject to availability and weather conditions. A private chartered boat for 8 to 10 passengers from Yeratta or Rangat Jetty costs between 10000 to 16000 Rs and takes 20 to 45 minutes.

From Havelock

Havelock to Long Island Ferry

Ferry services from Havelock/Neil Island to Long Island operate as follows:

  • Daily Ferry: 8:15 AM (takes 2 hours)
  • Additional Ferries: On Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, there is an extra ferry at 10:15 AM (also takes 2 hours)
  • Fare:
    • Seat: ₹630
    • Chair: ₹875 (for non-Islanders)

This regular ferry service makes it easy to travel between these islands with comfortable seating options.
